CONDITION
I have done my best to describe the condition of posters and paperbacks and hardback novels as accurately as possible. The condition standards used are generally accepted by dealers in the trade, at auction houses and vintage shows. The digital images on the More Noir web site are of a very high quality and display detail well. However, your monitor resolution and type may affect color and detail. All items are guaranteed to be 100% original. We do not sell reproductions.
MINT: A never used poster. May show minor signs of age and wear at folds due to storage. No holes, no tears.
NEAR MINT: A generally unused poster with fresh, saturated colors. May have minimal tears at folds. Has no significant holes, no paper loss, may have minor tears along edges, may have fine pin holes.
FINE: A poster with bright colors, clean, with general signs of use. May have minor tears at folds with minor paper loss, may have fine pin holes. May have restoration.
GOOD: An average poster with overall fresh color. May have tears, minor paper loss, minor hazing. Paper may be brittle due to age, may have minor stains. May have a small amount of writing in an unobtrusive place. May have medium or major restoration.
FAIR: A poster with faded colors and brittle paper, showing significant signs of use. May have tears and paper loss. May have tape, writing, stains in image area. In need of restoration or had major restoration.
POOR: A poster that is worn, torn, and/ or damaged. May have staining, cracking, dry rot, and/or large tears. May be heavily soiled, may have pieces missing. In need of major restoration.
VINTAGE PAPERBACKS:
MINT: Like new, unused and without any flaws. Pure white pages are not required for this grade, as a slight darkening of the page with age is inevitable.
NEAR MINT: Like Mint, but with some imperfections, generally due to shelf and storage wear. For example a book might have slight edge wear, a small chip at the top or bottom of the spine, or light rubbing of the cover or some other minor flaw.
FINE: High quality books with minor signs of use. Highest grade for a book that has been read. For example, a light crease down the spine would qualify it as a Fine book.
VERY GOOD TO FINE: Books in this grade have been read, but show no significant creasing, spine roll, page browning or other serious problem.
VERY GOOD: Very good books exhibit general wear but not heavy wear. Flaws include minor cover creasing, light spine roll, minimal water stains, spine fade, peeling cover lamination. This is the grade category that encompasses most vintage paperbacks.
GOOD: Books showing heavy use, but still complete and intact with both covers, spine and pages. Also any book with a higher grade, but exhibiting a serious flaw such as missing cover pieces.
POOR: Damages books, i.e., torn, taped, or heavily warped, receive this grade
